America's Road Team - 1998 - Alonzo Griffin

Drive for ArcBest
by Lindsey Kennedy

"You can't give good service if you're not safe," says Salt Lake City Road Driver Alonzo Griffin. "Safety and service go together."

"With the congestion on the highways being what it is today, the main thing for anybody is to ride alone," is Al's safety message to all drivers, regardless of age. "When you find yourself in heavy traffic, separate yourself from the congestion. Find your space in the traffic where you can ride alone. This philosophy will take you through all kinds of traffic congestion safely." It has worked for Al for 25 years and for more than 2 million accident-free miles.

He is known locally for writing and performing gospel music.

Al's outstanding driving record and ability to speak to nearly any audience won him a spot on the 1998 America's Road Team.
