America's Road Team - 2011-2012 - Tim McElwaney

Drive for ArcBest
by Lindsey Kennedy

Tim McElwaney is an ABF City Driver from Atlanta, Georgia. He gets accused of being the neatest truck driver people have ever seen. “I get paid to work smart,” he says. There is nothing Tim would rather do than to drive a truck because he enjoys meeting people and learning about their lives. Plus, he enjoys the freedom of the road.

His philosophy of patience has earned him many accolades during his 28 years with ABF. He has earned his Silver Safe Driving Award (30,000 hours, consecutive accident-free driving), his 20-year Safety Performance Plaque, and his 25-year Safe Driving Certificate. In 2009, he was named Georgia’s Driver of the Year. He has also won several awards at the National Truck Driving Championships and is involved in many truck driving programs in Georgia. When he is not driving his truck or working with trucking programs, Tim enjoys camping, fishing, and bike riding.
