We’re excited to share ArcBest’s 2023 Sustainability Report, detailing our progress toward helping create a more sustainable supply chain and world. The report outlines the purposeful actions we’ve taken to address where in our business we can improve efficiency and help drive positive change for our employees, customers, business partners and communities. You’ll read about our commitment to four of the United Nations Global Compact’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), get environmental updates on emissions reduction and more efficient fleet and facility investments, and learn about our continued work toward safety and inclusion.
As a result of our ongoing efforts, ArcBest was named one of America’s Most Responsible Companies in 2024 by Newsweek and Statista.

2023 Updates
Throughout last year, we made progress in several notable areas, including:
- Selected four United Nations Global Compact Sustainable Development Goals to focus on advancing: Good Health and Well-Being (SDG 3), Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 8), Climate Action (SDG 13) and Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions (SDG 16)
- Established a corporate environmental policy to guide sustainable business best practices across the organization, encourage a culture of environmental stewardship among employees, and outline expectations for our vendors, suppliers and service providers
- Held the first ArcBest Earth Day Clean-Up event, providing an opportunity for employees to take action toward contributing to a healthier planet and keeping our campuses beautiful
- Partnered with FoodLoops to use and recycle compostable foodware at several company events, keeping over 1,200 pounds of waste out of landfills
- Awarded 269 ABF Freight drivers for achieving safety milestones, honoring their dedication to safe driving
- Increased our TAT sponsorship level to continue advocating awareness of human trafficking crimes and furthering education on how to safely identify and report trafficking situations
- Added four Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) to the organization, for a total of six ERGs
- Launched the ArcBest Innovation Ambassador Program to help strengthen our culture of innovation, increase employee engagement and identify growth opportunities
- Introduced the ArcBest Values in Practice (VIP) Awards in honor of our 100th year, celebrating teams at the heart of our success that exemplify our core values while serving customers
- Contributed $2 million to over 250 charitable organizations to support the places where we live and work
About the Report
ArcBest’s 2023 Sustainability report was informed by input from leaders across the company and in collaboration with the Board of Directors’ Nominating/Corporate Governance Committee, Sustainability Executive Sponsors and the Sustainability Committee, which includes representatives from functional areas across the company, such as Carrier Relations, Fleet Services, Human Resources, Compliance and Safety, Internal Audit and others.
The report was prepared in accordance with Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) Standards and includes disclosures on climate-related risks and opportunities through the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) framework.
