Boost efficiency and growth with Vaux
As a trusted industry leader for more than a century, ArcBest continually listens to customers’ logistics challenges and delivers innovative solutions. We took our approach to a new level in 2023 with the groundbreaking Vaux Freight Movement System™ — developed to streamline material handling processes so shippers can remain competitive in an increasingly demanding environment.
We continue to grow and refine the Vaux Technology suite, making it even more efficient and user-friendly. But what does this mean for your business? Explore these four key insights to learn how Vaux can transform your operations.
Initial offering expands freight-handling possibilities
The Vaux Freight Movement System presents a game-changing solution by rethinking the traditional approach to loading and unloading trailers. A process that normally takes hours is reduced to just minutes with the Vaux MP™ (mobile platform), which slides in and out of trailers in a single motion.
It also enables loading and unloading from all four sides and includes customizable decking tables that convert unstackable freight into stackable loads.
ArcBest has significantly enhanced the system since its launch. The latest versions feature:
- The E-Track MP for transporting wheeled vehicles
- A more agile 17-foot MP for confined spaces
- 26-foot and 10-foot roller-deck MPs for air cargo ULD containers
- A car hauler that allows a standard trailer to carry up to four vehicles
Vaux Smart Autonomy elevates user experience
Building on the momentum of Vaux MP, we introduced Vaux Smart Autonomy™ one year later. This solution is designed to optimize safety and efficiency in material handling while directly confronting global labor challenges.
Vaux Smart Autonomy prioritizes flexibility and requires minimal changes to existing infrastructures. It allows operators to control robots remotely, enabling seamless collaboration between human workers and robots. With its human-in-the-loop design, operators can manage the autonomous movement of oversized freight, stacking on gravity feeds, bulk stacking and moving automotive racks.
Since arriving on the scene in February 2024, Vaux has expanded its 5K counterbalance lift capabilities to include trailer loading and unloading. Smart Autonomy can handle double-stacked freight in trailers and seamlessly complete autonomous put-away operations. These capabilities have earned praise from influential companies in the automotive, retail and manufacturing sectors.
Vaux Vision enhances forklift capabilities
ArcBest continued its quest for greater material handling efficiencies with the announcement of Vaux Vision in February 2025. Still in the pilot phase, this 3D perception technology attaches to any forklift and transforms it into a mobile freight dimensioner.
The tool’s sensors capture images, dimensions and immediate shipment insight, enhancing operational efficiencies without disrupting workflow. Vaux Vision seamlessly integrates with the Vaux OS and with existing weight scales.
Other functions include:
- Tracking the piece ID or pallet barcode
- Capturing photos of freight (during pick up and drop off) to improve visibility and transparency
- Employing AI to determine if freight is damaged, HazMat, stackable, fragile and leaning
