America's Road Team - 2003-2004 - Alternate: Otto Schmeckenbecher

Drive for ArcBest
by Lindsey Kennedy

Otto Schmeckenbecher is very serious about his profession and highway safety. He thinks that while everyone pretty well knows what it takes to do a safe job, it is helpful to be reminded. He is certainly qualified to speak on the subject, considering his excellent safety record. Otto has over three million accident-free miles as a professional truck driver.

This Little Rock, Arkansas, Road Driver said, “Serving on ABF’s Road Team gives me a platform for telling people what professional drivers are really like. My pride in my profession and in ABF is evident through my job performance. I consider it my duty to further promote a positive image for my profession and my company. The Road Team promotes two things that are very important: safety and courtesy on the road. I am proud to represent ABF as a Road Team member.”

Otto has received numerous safety awards in his more than 30 years as a professional driver. He participates in the Highway Watch Program and the World’s Largest Truck Convoy to benefit the Special Olympics. He is also a member of the Masonic Lodge. Otto enjoys home improvement projects, model trains, and restoring his 1969 Olds 442.
