What ArcBest Is Doing To Minimize The Impact of Industry Disruptions

The Power to Provide Reliable Capacity in the Face of Uncertainty  

While the economy rebounds from the pandemic and recent widespread winter weather events, the freight transportation industry is facing challenges we haven’t seen in recent times. Depleted inventory levels, demand shifts and spikes, and driver shortages have resulted in a struggle throughout the industry to match available capacity with increasing shipping demand.   

We know concerns about capacity and fluctuating demands have made this a difficult time for many of our customers, and we want to assure you that ArcBest is committed to offering exceptional service as your needs evolve. We have taken a number of steps to ensure we continue to serve you well.  It is important to us that we help you deliver on your promises. Here’s what we are doing:  

  • Investing in people and technology to provide better experiences for our customers and increase access to capacity.  

  • Hiring approximately 1,000 dock workers and drivers across the ABF network, and around 800 additional logistics professionals in roles across ArcBest  

  • Purchasing additional equipment for the ABF network  

    • More than 400 new road tractors   

    • 1,250 trailers for road and city operations   

    • 350 additional rail containers  
       

  • Adding approximately 200 new power units to our expedite fleet and van and reefer trailers to match customer demand for truckload services  

  • Aggressively recruiting owner-operators and contract capacity  

  • Structuring our company to deliver an excellent capacity provider experience
