Former American Trucking Associations chairman Don Bowman is noted for developing the concept of Truck Driver Appreciation Week. He envisioned an annual campaign to educate and inform the public about the essential role truck drivers play in powering our society. Since its official launch in 1988, the event has continued to expand its reach and influence.

Collectively, we’ve gotten used to convenience. Many of the things we want and need are readily accessible thanks to America’s 3.5 million truck drivers, who deliver even in the most challenging conditions.
Despite having to navigate obstacles like crowded highways, severe weather, natural disasters and global health crises, these dedicated professionals come through — often while enduring extended periods away from their loved ones.
