With several programs focused on recognizing talent and hard work, appreciation is part of our everyday culture. Here’s a look at the initiatives that help team members feel valued and motivated.
Values in Practice Awards
The Values in Practice (VIP) Awards acknowledge teams that have gone above and beyond. One award is given for each of our core values, and teams are nominated by their peers. A panel reviews the nominations, and winners get certificates and special recognition from ArcBest Chairman and CEO Judy McReynolds during a virtual event in the fall.
President’s Club
We celebrate top performers through the President’s Club — a program that acknowledges the top 10% of individuals who impact our company’s success. As part of their recognition, members enjoy special trips and awards. This group represents outstanding achievement and motivates others to aim for top success.
Leadership Academy
With Growth as a core value, developing our people is a big part of who we are. Leadership Academy is one program that helps employees grow into future leaders. Supervisors nominate people with strong leadership abilities, and those selected get to build relationships, network with peers and strengthen their skills throughout the program. It’s not only a great opportunity for personal growth, but it also recognizes the contributions and potential of each member.
CEO Circle of Excellence
The CEO Circle of Excellence honors leaders who go above and beyond for their teams. We present this award to leaders (below the director level) who rank in the top 10% of leadership scores based on our annual employee survey. Recipients are invited to a special virtual event with senior leadership, where they receive a crystal award and a personal letter from Judy McReynolds.
Employee shout-outs
We believe excellent customer service starts with how we treat each other. Through Employee Shoutouts, we encourage employees to shout out their peers for exceptional work. These shoutouts are shared in company-wide emails, on screens in our offices and in publications like the Wayfinder newsletter and Bylines magazine. It’s a simple but meaningful way to show appreciation for the hard work happening every day.
Service awards
Our Service Awards program honors employees for their dedication and commitment at different career milestones. After their first year, employees are gifted branded merchandise. Then, for major anniversaries, such as 5, 10, 15 and 20, they pick a special gift from a catalog of options. Their manager presents the gift in a personal recognition ceremony, making each milestone feel special.
Safety awards
Safety is a top priority at ArcBest, and we recognize ABF Freight® employees who go the extra mile to keep themselves and others safe. Our Safety Awards are given to those with accident-free records and highlight milestones like driving a million miles safely. Employees are given points that can be used to purchase items from the company store, special plaques and certificates. We’re proud to honor the dedication it takes to keep our team and our customers’ freight safe.
Employee Appreciation Day
Each Spring, we celebrate National Employee Appreciation Day with a special event for our hard-working team members. Leadership serves up delicious meals, hosts fun events and creates a festive atmosphere to show how much we value our employees. It’s a day filled with gratitude, laughs and plenty of good food.
Daily praise
Along with the programs above, we’ve made it easy for employees to recognize each other every day. Through Workday, our intranet, or Teams, our messaging platform, employees can give each other shoutouts and share feedback whenever they want. Service center managers also have access to Thank You cards, making it simple to add a personal touch. Acknowledging outstanding work should be easy and frequent, and we’ve set up tools to help make that happen.
