Streamlining supply chains and transforming employee workspaces
ArcBest® LTL carrier ABF Freight® made considerable progress on the company’s multi-year Facility Enhancement and Growth Roadmap throughout 2024 and already into 2025, completing more than 20 projects in the second half of last year, including adding 316 doors.
Since beginning our long-term facility plan in 2021, we’ve completed 57 remodels overall and ABF’s door count has grown by about 800. Today, our nationwide network totals over 9,500 doors for shipping and receiving across North America. Our efforts to improve, expand and build new facilities have positioned us to continue handling increased capacity and even more efficiently handle customers’ supply chain needs. Additionally, these facility updates provide our people with cleaner, safer and more comfortable workspaces.
"ABF’s commitment to Excellence is the foundation for our multi-year facility enhancement project. Each renovation, remodel and expansion strengthens our operations and improves our employees’ experiences — providing spaces where they are proud to work and that enable us to serve customers better than ever," said Matt Godfrey, ABF Freight president. "Today, more than 50 percent of union employees are working in new or remodeled facilities. This progress allows us to continue meeting and exceeding our customers’ evolving needs, which is a contributor to ABF exceeding industry benchmarks in Mastio’s annual survey for the 19th time."

“The dispatch area is more comfortable, our workstations are quiet with fewer distractions, the file cabinet room now provides storage space that we never had, and the new furniture has me speechless. These changes have enabled us to remove clutter and be more organized than ever,” said Daniel Snider, service center manager at Auburn Hills. “Auburn Hills has always been a nice service center, but with this renovation, it’s over the top! I really appreciate what leadership has done for our team. This is another example of why ABF is awesome.”
Remodels
The remodels of former Yellow facilities purchased in 2023 in Columbus, OH, and Fayetteville, AR, are complete and replace previous locations in the areas. Our people moved into Columbus in September and Fayetteville in December and now have enhanced workspaces in locations that better support local customers.
