Living out our mission statement
ArcBest is driven by our mission to connect and positively impact the world through solving logistics challenges. And part of that mission involves giving back to the communities where we live and work.
In 2023, we partnered with multiple causes for our centennial giving campaign, but our work is not done. Using our philanthropic pillars of community, education and people, we plan to continue supporting important causes around the world.
Ways we plan to give back in 2024
Take a look at some of our goals for the year:
Making a difference at home
In 2024, we’ll continue our long partnership with the United Way of Fort Smith Area, which provides funding and support to over 30 organizations in six counties surrounding our Fort Smith headquarters. By working with the United Way, we’re able to participate in many different initiatives benefitting kids' sports, senior centers, food banks, nursing home residents, children in foster care and people with disabilities.
Our plans include participating in United Way’s annual Day of Caring, Fill the Bus donations and annual giving campaign, conducting an employee-led holiday food drive and raising funds for United Way agencies through employee events. These programs will provide our people with opportunities to give their time, talents and money to shape happier and healthier communities.
Investing in education
Growth is one of our core values, and with that comes a focus on training and development. In this spirit, we’ll continue to explore scholarship programs and provide tuition reimbursement options to support higher education expenses for our dedicated team members and their families. In 2024, we established a partnership with Scholarship America to offer support exclusively to dependents of ArcBest employees for full-time undergraduate study or vocational-technical school. The application process is now open, and scholarships will be awarded in time for the fall semester.
We also want to strengthen the future workforce. Through our Educational Match Program, we're empowering our team to contribute to educational institutions, and providing a company match to amplify the impact. We’re also building partnerships with mentoring programs and education centers so employees can help students grow and learn.
Empowering people who make a difference
We’ll continue working with organizations such as Polaris Project, Habitat for Humanity, Truckers Against Trafficking and Toys for Tots. Through our military recruiting focus, we will continue to assist veterans in transitioning to civilian logistics careers, and we’ll honor our nation’s heroes through events like Wreaths Across America. By providing resources and support, we're contributing to making a direct impact on the lives of others.
