ABF Service Centers Demonstrate Commitment to Quality
Each year, ArcBest’s LTL carrier ABF Freight presents the President’s Quality Award to ABF service centers whose high standards of service have resulted in profitable growth, safe freight handling, and improvements in customer experience and customer loyalty. Five locations received the award for 2022: Carlisle, Pennsylvania; Hickory, North Carolina; Honolulu, Hawaii; Joplin, Missouri; and South Bend, Indiana.
The President’s Quality Award was established in 1993 and is the highest internal honor an ABF service center can receive. To be considered, service center teams must display a strong commitment to our Quality Process and to Doing It Right The First Time (DIRTFT). Recipients are determined based on yearly performance evaluations from ABF Operations, ABF Safety and Customer Experience, and an on-site quality validation audit by an internal Quality Committee. The evaluation process gauges resource management, damage and loss prevention, customer satisfaction and other key performance indicators.

ABF’s Quality Process
Our Quality Process enables service centers to implement creative problem-solving solutions in a collaborative environment using our 5 Step Problem Elimination Process — which focuses on defining the problem, finding a temporary solution, determining the root cause, applying corrective action and following up until the problem does not exist. Through in-person seminars, job-skills training, focus groups and quality improvement teams, we continually educate our people, helping enhance our customers’ experience with reliable and efficient system procedures.
