Rolling up our sleeves for local causes
Every day, volunteers across the globe provide services that address local needs and build stronger, more supportive communities. ArcBest is proud to contribute to these efforts through our commitment to community involvement. In addition to donating to important causes, our people are actively involved in volunteer efforts, working with groups and organizations that make a positive impact.
Join us as we highlight the projects and partnerships that help us give back to our communities.
Dedicated to service together
Our employees volunteer their time in countless ways, but here are some examples that align with our philanthropic pillars: People, Education and Community.
Supporting people: Bettering the lives of individuals
At the corporate level, we partner with groups that support underserved populations. This includes Project Hero, which provides aid to wounded veterans, the 988 Lifeline, which supports individuals struggling with mental health issues, and The Call, which serves foster children in the Fort Smith, Ark. area.
Individually, our team members embrace this area by serving on boards for various organizations, coaching kids’ sports teams, participating in church activities and volunteering for efforts that affect people across our communities.
Advancing education: Partners in Education Program & STEM outreach
With Growth as one of our core values, investing in education is essential. ArcBest employees help students through the Partners in Education initiative, visiting classrooms during Read Across America Week, mentoring students and participating in pen pal programs. These mentorship relationships can boost academic and personal growth for students and provide invaluable career insight for their futures.
Another example is ArcBest Technologies programs that promote science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) careers in Fort Smith, Ark., schools. Through mentorship and hands-on learning opportunities, like a Girls Who Code club, we’re seeing greater enthusiasm for technology among young learners and creating a more diverse future workforce.
Serving communities: United Way Day of Caring & holiday service
We get involved locally to build happier and healthier communities. Each year, teams of ArcBest employees volunteer for the Day of Caring, assisting with projects for community partners supported by the United Way of Fort Smith Area. In April 2024, over 150 employees volunteered across a six-county area, helping with tasks ranging from preparing casseroles for a food bank to rejuvenating outdoor spaces for a youth home.
During the holiday season, different employee groups unite to support the increased seasonal needs of different organizations. Over the years, various teams have generously volunteered to decorate the local women’s shelter, sort gifts for the Salvation Army Angel Tree, and handle the transportation, storage and placement of wreaths for veterans at national cemeteries.
Our employees’ dedication to volunteerism has improved community resources, supported local services, and created stronger bonds between our people and the communities where we live and work.
Embodying the ArcBest spirit
Our people are the heart of our success, and we’re proud of how they have jumped in to help their communities. They represent our values and commitment to service wherever they go. Our team gives their time and talents to make a positive impact, embodying the spirit of ArcBest in every endeavor.
