ABF FreightSM Names Mike Moss As Senior Vice President - Operations
Fort Smith, Arkansas, July 9, 2014 ABF FreightSM announced that Michael R. Moss has been named Senior Vice President – Operations, effective July 14, 2014 as the company continues to innovate within the less-than-truckload industry on behalf of its customers across the supply chain.
“Mike brings a wealth of LTL industry experience and knowledge to our company,” said ABF Freight President and Chief Executive Officer Roy Slagle. “His innovative thinking will help us continue to meet the ever-changing needs of ABF Freight’s customers including ongoing product improvements required by the evolving marketplace. His proven track record in developing transportation solutions in both the non-asset and international spaces will also benefit our entire organization at ArcBest CorporationSM as we work to solve complex supply chain challenges across our ABF Freight, ABF Logistics℠ and Panther Premium LogisticsSM operating companies.”
In his new position, Moss will report directly to Slagle and will be responsible for all areas of operational activities for ABF Freight including terminal and linehaul operations, equipment purchasing and maintenance.
Planning/engineering and industrial relations will continue to report to Slagle.
Moss comes to ABF Freight with 30 years of transportation experience holding various positions of leadership at several companies throughout the LTL industry, including Southeastern Freight Lines, FedEx Freight and Con-way Freight.
His experience includes directing the development and enhancement of both regional and long-haul LTL networks; heading the LTL field sales organization of a leading regional carrier; establishing an operation for handling LTL and less-than-containerload shipments between the United States and points in Asia and Europe; and guiding the successful, organic launch of a non-asset logistics subsidiary at his previous company.
