Arkansas Best Corporation’s Bob Meyers To Retire After 34 Years In Transportation

(Fort Smith, Arkansas, December 7, 2007) – John R. (Bob) Meyers, Vice President Arkansas Best Corporation, will retire January 31, 2008, concluding over 34 years with the company.

“I want to thank Bob for his many years of valuable service to our company,” said Robert A. Davidson, Arkansas Best President and Chief Executive Officer. “Since his arrival in the early seventies, Bob has helped develop and positively influence many of the areas that have made Arkansas Best and ABF successful. More recently, his oversight of several of our non-ABF subsidiaries has been important to the overall development of our corporation.”

“During his time with Arkansas Best, Bob Meyers has always displayed a knack for providing fresh ideas and efficient management over his areas of responsibility,” said Robert A. Young III, Arkansas Best Chairman. “More than once over the years, I have looked to Bob to provide his insight and direction to a new area within our company. He has always responded positively and enthusiastically. We would not be where we are today without his keen mind and work ethic. Bob’s contributions are too numerous to list. I appreciate what he has done over the years and I wish him well in the future.”

Mr. Meyers joined Arkansas Best in December 1973 as Director of Internal Audit, a department he started. From 1979 to 1995, Mr. Meyers also served as Vice President – Treasurer of both Arkansas Best Corporation and ABF Freight System, Inc. From 1995 to 2001, Mr. Meyers served as President of Treadco, Inc., a truck tire subsidiary of Arkansas Best Corporation that was later sold. Since 2001, Mr. Meyers has been responsible for the non-ABF subsidiaries including Clipper Exxpress, a non-asset, intermodal subsidiary sold in 2006 and FleetNet America, Inc., a third-party vehicle maintenance company.
